A message about Coronavirus/COVID-19 from Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge
Komen Virginia Blue Ridge continues to monitor news and updates surrounding COVID-19 from the Virginia Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
At this time, we have made no changes to the date for the Race for the Cure, and there has not been any recommendation from local or national health authorities to do so. Safety is always Komen Virginia Blue Ridge’s number one priority, however, especially as it concerns our community of those living with metastatic breast cancer, those recently diagnosed and going through treatment, and breast cancer survivors. With this in mind, please:
– Do not participate in Komen Virginia Blue Ridge activities if you’re feeling ill and/or have a fever or cough.
– Do not participate in Komen Virginia Blue Ridge activities if you’ve recently traveled to cities, countries or regions designated as high risk for the virus.
– Do not participate in Komen Virginia Blue Ridge activities if have a medical condition that causes you to be immunocompromised or otherwise more susceptible to illness.
We also ask all participants and volunteers to employ strict personal hygiene practices, including frequent hand washing. Please read and follow these recommendations from the CDC. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/guidance-prevent-spread.html
