A message about Coronavirus/COVID-19 from Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge
In light of the recent progression of COVID-19, and the CDC guidance to postpone mass gatherings, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule the Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge Race for the Cure from April 25, 2020 to September 12, 2020 at River’s Edge North in Roanoke.
While this is incredibly disappointing, the health and safety of our constituents, volunteers, sponsors, and the community as a whole remain our priority. We are continuing to monitor the situation and we remain here for the women and men touched by breast cancer who need our assistance.
Our event is a day where we can all can put aside everything else in our lives and share our space, our stories, our laughter, and our tears to raise money that saves lives. As such, we look forward to sharing that day with you later this year. The funds you raise for the event support breast health programs in our community including screening, diagnostic testing, treatment assistance, and more. No matter what is happening in the world, breast cancer does not stop and neither do we; as long as breast cancer is here, we are here to fight it with you.
So remember, while you’re a home, you can still register and fundraise for our upcoming event on September 12 to support the mission of Susan G. Komen without ever leaving home:
- Set a goal and share your fundraising link through email and social media
- Share your personal story — through email, social media, our mobile app — it’s the best way to inspire your friends and family to donate.
- Start a Facebook fundraiser through your participant center or reshare your existing fundraiser.
We are also posting updates to our FAQ section of the Event website. We encourage you to visit these FAQs for the most up-to-date information.
